Does the son feel his father is worthless?

This morning my mind is like a hound dog following the trail of a raccoon when the pursued animal’s scent mixes with that of another raccoon. Which raccoon does the hound dog choose to follow?  Lots of ideas are meandering through my mind, but I must force myself to follow the thought raised in the last post, “My Son is Worthless.”

It is a dangerous thing to anticipate the thoughts of another person.  However, the question still needs to be considered; “Does the son feel his father is worthless?”  The evidence is that the son does not find either of his parents or his siblings worth his consideration in the present.  He may feel this way someday, but not today.  The evidence is in the amount of time he gives to them.  Time is our most valuable commodity.  Our time is limited and nonrenewable.  What we value most is what we spend our time doing.  Sometimes the activity may not be what we want to do, but we yield our time to it out of necessity.  The time we use is more than ticks of a clock; it is giving mental and emotional attention.

The amount and quality of time I spend with Jan tell her more of her value to me than saying a phrase, “I love you.”  Saying those words are essential, but showing them is more important.  For me, it is worthiness that drives those two I mention as well as others.  I dearly love my wife because God values each of us and the union He created.  You can take a close look at how I use my time and may wonder if I find God worthy.  The time I set aside to focus my thoughts on God becomes riddled with diverging ideas. However, I sincerely want to demonstrate His worthiness.

Oh, that this son would give his parents a sign of their worth to him.  When that reconnection happens, all distance between parents and son will evaporate.

Oh, that we would collectively and individually seek to demonstrate more clearly the worthiness of our God Creator.  We do that by the amount and quality of time we give to Him.  After all, He has radically shown each of us our worthiness in His eyes.
