This will be short! (I think).
I got into my truck at 6:30 this morning to go to church. My usual routine is to shut the door, strap in, push the start button, check the A/C setting and the seat heater (my favorite amenity), and finally, I reach for my glasses. I typically only wear my glasses while driving or in the venues of my destinations. Seldom in the house because “readers” are always closer at hand.
Before I look through my glasses, I look at them.
This looking at my glasses is for making sure they are clean. Bad things can happen if I look through them before I look at them. I cannot handle the distraction of yesterday’s grime clinging to the lenses as ghostly distortions. Cleaning my glasses while driving is more dangerous than checking a text message.
Could it be that starting my day with the same routine would be beneficial for me to be in a position where the coming of the Kingdom on earth, as it does in Heaven, just might have a chance to happen?
Removing the sludge of yesterday, both the good and the bad, in order to have a clear and focused mind facing the One who allowed me to wake to a new day of Kingdom possibilities.
“Our Father in heaven,
your name be honored as holy.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:9-10, CSB)
PS 248 words! That’s a record for me!
